Golden Oak at Walt Disney World®Resort (Lake Buena Vista, Florida)

The first time I visited Golden Oak at Walt Disney World® Resort — the new upscale community being developed by Disney — I felt a strong sense of Déjà vu. A friendly receptionist greeted me with a bottle of water and escorted me to a model of the community encased in wood and glass. I immediately recognized the sales staff when they came out with arm loads of glossy brochures which included the plat and floor plans of the upcoming community.

As I persued the builder’s names, I realized I had worked with practically all of them and that each one had delivered a world-class experience for me and my buyers.

The familiarity came because the same professionals who worked on creating Celebration, the town that I have lovingly called home for over ten years, are now in-place to bring Disney’s latest masterpiece to the world!

Golden Oak is nestled between The Magic Kingdom and Epcot. It’s named after a ranch in California where Walt Disney retreated to work on his creation known as “the most magical place on Earth.” As a young boy, Walt would sit under a large oak tree and let his imagination run wild. One of the things he always envisioned were communities that added to people’s lives.

Following the success of Celebration, Disney is bringing this luxurious neighborhood to Orlando … complete with many exclusive amenities for its residents. They’ll enjoy VIP transportation, theme park benefits, special event tickets, exclusive community activities, concierge services, a private clubhouse featuring fine dining and upscale fitness facilities, and access to the largest Four Seasons Resort in North America.

On December 6, 2011, a ground-breaking ceremony was held as construction began on The Four Seasons Resort Orlando at the Walt Disney World Resort. Scheduled to open in 2014, it will feature several dining options (including a rooftop restaurant with spectacular views of The Magic Kingdom); a 14,000 square foot luxurious spa; a state-of-the-art fitness center; three pools and a “lazy river;’ meeting/event space; a business center; and a golf course.

Golden Oak is a guarded community situated on 980 acres, with almost half of the acreage consisting of conservation land. It will ultimately be filled with 450 luxury residences, ranging in price from $1.5 to $8 Million. Situated in three different neighborhoods, within the Golden Oak community, you’ll find gorgeous, custom single family homes and lovely, Tuscan-style courtyard homes.

As of the end of 2011, I had accompanied more buyers to “the most magical place to live on earth” than any other real estate agent. She is intimately knowledgeable about the floor plans, pricing, and builders.

Golden Oak Facts

The Name Golden Oak
The name, Golden Oak, is inspired by Walt Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch in Newhall, California where some would say gold nuggets had been found in 1842, and was a filming location for segments of the Mickey Mouse Clubin the 1950’s.

Walt Disney's Golden Oak
In addition to the ranch’s official use for The Walt Disney Company, the ranch also served as a place of respite and relaxation for Walt and his family. Golden Oak at Walt Disney World®Resort will offer families that same sense of magic and enchantment that Walt believed to be so important. Beyond the literal connection to Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch, the iconic oak tree symbolizes the family, stability, and heritage that this community will encourage. The tree also pays a subtle homage to Walt’s “Dreaming Tree,” the tree in his childhood hometown that provided shade for his many hours of daydreaming.

Neighborhoods and Streets
Historic Disney lore exists throughout Golden Oak, but most notably in the naming of the neighborhoods. Golden Oak’s Carolwood is inspired by Walt Disney’s fascination with railroads and the miniature Carolwood Pacific Railroad he built in the backyard of his home in California. Kimball Trace is named after Ward Kimball who was one of Walt Disney’s original animators known as “Nine Old Men”, and Silverbrook is inspired by Silver Lake, the location of Walt and Roy Disney’s first large studio in California.
